Power essential appliances (fridge, lights, router, CPAP, medical devices) during grid outages. Look for 2000+ Wh, 2000W+ AC output, and expandability.
Our pick: EcoFlow DELTA Pro 2, Anker SOLIX F3800, or Mango Power E
Off-grid power for weekends or extended trips. Prioritize weight, solar charging speed, and compact size. Most campgrounds allow silent battery power where generators are banned.
Our pick: EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro or Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus
Keep one fully charged and stored. LFP chemistry holds its charge for 1+ year in storage. Pair with a solar panel for indefinite off-grid power.
Our pick: ALLPOWERS S2000 Pro (budget) or Anker SOLIX C1000 (premium)

Goal Zero
Most modern power stations use LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate). LFP lasts 3,000–6,000 cycles vs 500–1,000 for older NMC cells, handles temperature extremes better, and cannot undergo thermal runaway. Goal Zero's older Yeti models use NMC — fine for occasional use, but LFP is the better long-term investment. Check the chemistry column before buying.
As of 2026, the residential federal ITC has expired. However, portable power stations paired with solar panels may qualify for state-level battery incentives in some states (California SGIP, for example). Check our incentives guide for your state.
An Energy Star US fridge uses about 1.5–2 kWh/day. A 1,000 Wh station runs it ~12–16 hours; a 2,000 Wh station ~1.5 days; a DELTA Pro 2 or Anker SOLIX F3800 (3–7 kWh) can sustain a fridge + essentials for 2–5 days. Look for pure sine wave output and surge watts at least 2× the fridge's running watts.
The largest units (Anker SOLIX F3800, EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra, Mango Power E) with transfer switches can back up essential circuits — not the whole panel. For whole-home backup, a fixed battery system (Tesla Powerwall 3, FranklinWH, EG4) is the right fit.
The residential federal ITC expired at the end of 2025. However, California's SGIP program still offers rebates for battery storage, and other states offer solar-plus-storage incentives — check our incentives page for your state.
LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) lasts 3,000–6,000 cycles and is structurally safer — it does not thermal-runaway. NMC cells are lighter but last ~500–1,000 cycles. Nearly all modern high-end stations use LFP; check the chemistry column in our comparison table.
